Board Self-Assessment – experts recommend that every nonprofit Board of Directors do a self-assessment every couple years to review and reflect on their work. Foundations consider Board Self-Assessment a best practice. Though you can “do-it-yourself”, there are the benefits of anonymity, time-savings, and ease of administration that a third-party can provide. You can pay over $1000 for a survey alone and even more for a summary of results (see www.BoardSource.org ). Our assessment is priced at $325 for most boards and includes a PowerPoint™ Summary of results to present to your board.
Board Self-Assessment

Executive Director Development Survey – our anecdotal experience is that only about one in four nonprofit boards do a written evaluation with their Executive Director/CEO at least every two years. We find that board leaders are anxious about “judging” the work of someone they don’t directly oversee on a day-to-day basis and who typically knows more about the work of the organization than they do. We offer a “basic-level” with 12 of the questions we have found to be thought provoking for most organizations or a “custom-level” where you can select from our list of 30+ questions plus provide up to five of your own questions.

Staff Survey – This survey was created in response to client organizations who used our Board Self-Assessment tool and wanted a way for their full staff to provide input on the organization and its operations. This short questionnaire covers numerous topics: Board, Senior Staff, Career Orientation, Belief in Mission, Program Impact, Community Reputation, Staff Teamwork, Concerns and Opportunities in the Future, Changes in Client Needs, etc. We offer a “basic-level” with 15 of the questions we have found to be helpful for most organizations or a “custom-level” where you can select from our list of 30+ questions plus provide up to five of your own questions.
